PM SUSIL KOIRALA VOWS TO FULFILL LATE BP AND GP KOIRALA’S COMMITMENTS ON DEMOCRACY, DEVELOPMEN

Kathmandu. - 9 April,-  PM Sushil Koirala has said the government was moving ahead keeping the peace, stability, democracy, the democratic constitution and development in high priority.

Addressing a function organised on the occasion of late Girija Prasad Koirala’s memorial day, the People’s Movement Day and the establishment of the Girija Prasad Koirala Memorial Community College here today, he said the country was having to remain under the spell of poverty as it did not get peace and stability despite being endowed with immense natural resources.

“The Nepali Congress is moving ahead adopting the policy of consensus, collaboration, unity and conciliation propounded by the late BP Koirala and the late Girija Prasad Koirala,” Prime Minister Susil Koirala who is also the Nepali Congress president, said, expressing the commitment that his party would do the needful to fulfill the commitments of the two late leading figures of Nepali politics.

The prime minister mentioned the late GP(Girija Prasad) Koirala’s success in making the people’s movement fruitful and ending the situation of violence and killing in the country taking into confidence disparate political forces in an unwavering manner in a difficult situation.

“I don’t get the feeling that Girija Prasad Koirala is not in our midst even now due to the high motivation he provided. His dedication and commitment towards democracy would always be remembered in the Nepali politics,” the Prime Minister(Susil Koirala) said.

Patron of the college and Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala urged one and all to contribute towards making the community college established in the late Girijababu’s name as an exemplary centre of education in the country.

CA member Gagan Thapa stressed the need of issuing a democratic constitution within a year to taking the movement and the campaign initiated by the late Girija Prasad Koirala to a concrete conclusion.

President of Nepal Tarun Dal, the youth wing of the Nepali Congress, Udaya Shumsher Rana also called for the cooperation from all sides for raising the prestige of the college run in the name of the towering figure of the country’s democracy movement.

On the occasion, college founder Dhrubaraj Thapa, chairman Bhimsendas Pradhan, principal Khilanath Sapkota said the main objective of establishing the college is production of skilled and able human resources needed by the country and to increase access to higher education at affordable fees.

The college based at Chabahil of the capital is running BBS classes under the 4 year Bachelor’s Level and plans to run classes under the BA, B ED, MA and MBS level from the coming fiscal year. The college is also preparing to run various voctational programmes under CTEVT.
